Rava Ladoos, Semolina ( Sooji ) Ladoos

Diwali is hardly two weeks away, people who celebrate this festival would be busy with shopping clothes, cleaning their homes and preparing goodies and gifts for friends and relatives. Growing up, Diwali for me was all about sweets and fireworks, every household makes at least 4 or 5 varieties of sweets and savouries to be distributed among friends and neighbors. So I am going to share a couple of sweets and savories here, today it's going to be Rava Ladoos/ Semolina ( Sooji ) Ladoos. This is one of the easiest sweets that we can make, needs very few ingredients and not very time consuming too..

Need To Have

  • Rava/Semolins/Sooji - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 3/4 to 1 cup
  • Cashews - 6, chopped finely
  • Golden Raisins - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Green Cardamom/Elaichi - 4
  • Ghee - 1/3 cup

Method

Roast the semolina till you get a nice aroma, remove and keep in a bowl. Heat a little ghee, roast the cashews and raisins till golden, remove and add to the rava. Powder the sugar along with the inner seeds of the cardamom and keep.

Add the powdered sugar to the rava and cashews, then heat the remaining heat and pour over the rava mixture and mix it with a spoon. When the mixture is still warm and you can handle with your hands, using your hands, make lemon sized balls and store.

Note
You can add 2 tablespoons of slightly roasted grated coconut and a tablespoon of milk to the mixture and make ladoos, but the shelf life will be less.
I have given the sugar amount as 3/4 to 1 cup, depending on your sweet level, you can add between 3/4 to 1 cup.
I have used very fine rava, if the semolina is coarse, after powdering the sugar, add the rava and powder it too.
You can store a mixture of rava and sugar and when you feel like making ladoos, just add ghee and make them.
While shaping the ladoos, if the rava becomes too cold, and if you have a microwave, warm it up a little and shape them.
